As a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Canada (SOC), Neil Glasberg has been part of an international movement improving the lives of individuals living with an intellectual disability, through sport. Neil dedicated seven years to the Special Olympics cause internationally and led the brand awareness initiative to grow the awareness of SOC in Canada and internationally across the private and public sectors. Through the power of networking and relationship building, Neil assembled a world class Board of Directors of Business Leaders, all of whom were instrumental in doubling the government funding for SOC, to the benefit of 34,000 athletes and 16,000 coaches.
Neil has over 3 decades of business leadership experience in financial services, automotive consumer, corporate finance, consumer marketing and branding. Neil is the President of PBI Sports and Entertainment, a rapidly growing sports representation and personal branding firm that manages and guides the careers of NBA players, professional sports coaches, prominent athletes and on-air broadcasters. In mid-2014, Neil assumed the personal branding responsibility for Evander Holyfield, the Five-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, and currently leads all of Evander’s global business opportunities and branding strategy. PBI Sports and Entertainment works closely with its clients in creating, leveraging, and maximizing their athletic and personal brand value around the world through Contract negotiating, Sponsorships, Endorsements, and by providing a litany of financial services (tax, insurance, wealth) and philanthropic guidance. As a perceptive business expert, Neil is respected as a very successful, fair and knowledgeable negotiator who is often called upon to consult and participate in investment deals. Neil is also a Certified NBA Player Agent and Certified Contract Advisor in the Canadian Football League.
Neil has held a range of senior executive roles including President and CEO of Invis Inc. and Head of Mortgage Services with HSBC Financial Corporation, Senior Vice President with both National Bank Financial Group and BMO Financial Group, Senior Vice President with GE Capital, and Leadership positions with General Motors, OnStar and PHH Corporation.
Neil was selected to be the country lead for General Electric’s “Boundaryless Selling” initiative in Canada under the global leadership of Jack Welch, having had leadership accountability for the Atlantic Canada Area Council while performing a simultaneous senior role with the New York Area Council.
Neil graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Marketing, while at McGill, Neil was a starter with the McGill Redmen Varsity Football team and then went on to win the National University Football Championship, Vanier Cup as an Assistant Coach in 1987.
Neil has guest lectured at many Colleges and Universities in Services Marketing and Sports Management, and is often invited to participate in Sports Conferences as a speaker and panelist. Neil speaks French fluently, has been married for 25 years, and is incredibly proud of his two teenage children. Having worked in Canada, the US and Mexico, he is very well rounded and very current on international business and global trends.
In April 2012, Neil was appointed the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the Canadian Forces Military Police Academy by the Governor General of Canada, His Excellency David Johnston.
