Robin Sears, an international public affairs consultant, has been a principal of Navigator Ltd. for three years, working on client issues in Canada and internationally. Robin has been a participant in political and communications projects on international issues since the late 70s. As Federal Secretary of the New Democratic Party, Robin fostered links between Canadian politicians and international social democrats in the field of security and democratic development policy in Europe, the Middle East and the third world.

In the 90s Robin was based in Asia, as the Province of Ontario’s senior diplomat in the region. As Agent General, based in Tokyo, he managed a network of offices from Korea to India for four years, promoting trade, investment, cultural and tourism exchange.

Robin is a veteran communications, marketing and public affairs advisor with experience on three continents for public and private sector clients. Before joining Navigator, Robin was a senior partner of Korn/Ferry International, the world’s largest executive search firm. Over a decade, he worked for multinational clients first in Tokyo, then Hong Kong, and finally Toronto. He was the founding President of Futurestep Asia, the firm’s internet search subsidiary.

Prior to his appointment as Agent General by Premier David Peterson, he was Chief of Staff to Bob Rae from 1985-89. Under Ed Broadbent, he worked for seven years as Federal Secretary (national director) of the NDP. Robin began his career as News Editor under Moses Znaimer at the launch of City-TV in Toronto in 1972.
