JOHN ARMSTRONG
John Armstrong is a seasoned veteran in the realm of
global management consulting,
technology services and outsourcing.
He was at Accenture for the past 12 years, where he
rose to the level of Managing Director,
Financial Services Canada, and Managing Partner,
Management Consulting, Canada. John
was a member of the Canadian Executive Committee for
the past 7 years.
At Accenture, John was responsible for leading the
client development and client service for
the Canadian Financial Services (FS) practice, with
P&L responsibility across all lines of
business (Management Consulting, Systems Integration
and Technology and Outsourcing)
This practice included 7 “core team” partners and up
to 7 additional partners focused on
project delivery, supported by approximately 220
staff. John’s FS team doubled revenues
over last 3 years, increasing both client breadth
and depth and making FS Canada the fastest
growing industry group in Canada and one of the
fastest FS Client Groups globally
John also led the Accenture’s Management Consulting
(MC) Growth Platform through its
inception in 2006 until a full time Managing
Director position was created. Practice includes:
Strategy, CRM, Finance and Performance Management,
Human Performance and Supply Chain
Management
service lines, with 9 partners and 250 consultants
in total. In this business, his
team grew
MC revenues over 50% as well as implementing new
management processes and
performance
metrics.
Prior to the above roles, John led the Strategy
practice in Canada, which spanned all industry
sectors and the Financial Services Strategy group in
the Northeast U.S. and Canada
John has led or participated in a number of very
large ($100 million +) multi-year programs,
including: commercial banking restructuring;
implementation of a new broker desk top; Basel
II implementation; merger integration and back
office consolidation in capital markets
Prior to Accenture, John was at Monitor Company for
6 years, where he was Managing
Director for Canada and Global Account Manager. At
Monitor, he was responsible for client
development and project delivery across a wide
variety of industry sectors including retailing,
financial services, publishing, communications and
various mining and natural resources
businesses. John was a leader in North America for
Monitor’s M&A practice, which supported
clients in acquisition analysis, including
assessments of market attractiveness, competitive
positioning andvaluations and due diligence. Clients
included public companies as well as
Private Equity firms. During his tenure as MD at
Monitor, John grew the Canadian practice
from approximately 25 to 50 consultants
Prior to Monitor, John as a consultant at The Boston
Consulting Group.
John is a graduate of Harvard Business School, with
High Distinction, having graduated in the
top 5% of his class.
John has been supportive throughout his career of a
number of community and educational
causes, including University of Toronto, United Way
and Oakville Galleries.
